What is Gender Dysphoria?

"Gender dysphoria refers to a psychological distress that results from an incongruence between one’s sex assigned at birth and one’s gender identity." - American Psychiatric Association.

This sense of unease or dissatisfaction could lead to depression and anxiety and have a harmful impact on daily life if left untreated. Gender dysphoria affects people of all ages and it usually intensifies after puberty. However, not all transgender or gender diverse people experience gender dysphoria.
